I just walked the garden, it has been about a week. We have tons of growth starting. We have a gigantic tomato plant with leaves larger then Mikes hand. We have a tree full of Meyers lemons coming in and the Cara Cara oranges just behind and we already started eating the blueberries and sugar snap peas.
The potato plants are growing fast and furiously. And we invited some Marigolds in to the mix to help keep pests out. We also have Cilantro bordering some potatoes. We cannot wait to see what abundance this will bring our apartment complex. We have to start somewhere, so we are starting with our circle of neighbors and hope to grow that to a larger circle as more and more neighbors start growing food where they can. Stay tuned for updates.

Mike started clearing the over grown shrubs and leveled off the dirt last week. He build garden boxes to start planting in this week. Here is the set of photos to show what we can call the start of our apartment garden. We hope to grow enough vegetables in this garden, a small patch of land between a wall and a garage, to provide a bag at harvest to each tenant, our goal is to encourage the neighbors to do the same. The city we live in is 90% paved. That makes this a patch of heaven.
